TimeBudget

1. The short version

TimeBudget measures how long you spend in the apps you choose, so it can count down the daily time budgets you set. That measurement stays on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server that stores your usage.

The one thing that does involve a third party is advertising, which is covered in section 5.

2. What the app stores on your device

All of the following is written to local storage on your phone and is never uploaded:

The apps you chose to budget, and their package names
The daily amount you set for each budget, and any per-weekday amounts
Whether a budget warns you or stops you, and whether Strict Lock is on
How long each budgeted app was in the foreground, per day, and which hours of the day that time fell in
Your settings: theme, warning thresholds, notification preferences

Foreground time is kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically. You can delete all of it at any time from Settings → Delete all recorded usage.

3. What the app does not collect

Your name, email address, phone number or any account identifier
The contents of any app — no messages, no browsing history, no screen contents, no keystrokes
Your location
Your contacts, photos, files or microphone
Anything about apps you have not chosen to budget, beyond their names appearing in the picker

4. Permissions and why each one is needed

Usage access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) — the permission that makes the product possible. Android reports which app came to the foreground and when; TimeBudget turns those events into elapsed time. Without it nothing can be counted.
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — used only by budgets set to stop you, to put a full-screen reminder in front of an app whose time has run out. It is requested when you turn that mode on, not at first launch.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — for the standing summary of today's remaining time and for the warnings as a budget runs low.
Run a foreground service — the measurement has to keep running while you are in other apps. Its notification is the budget summary itself.
Start on boot (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — so budgets resume counting after a restart instead of silently stopping.

TimeBudget does not request the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission. It sees only the apps that have a launcher icon, which is the same set you can open from your home screen.

5. Advertising

The app shows advertising through Google AdMob: a banner, a small native strip, an occasional full-screen ad, and an ad when the app is opened. AdMob may collect and process device identifiers and advertising-related data in order to serve and measure those ads. This is the only case where data leaves your device, and it does not include anything about which apps you budget or how long you use them.

Google's handling of that data is described in Google's privacy policy.

Where the law requires it — in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — the app asks for your consent before requesting personalised ads, using Google's User Messaging Platform. You can reopen that choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices.

8. Your rights

Because your data never leaves your phone, you exercise every right directly on the device: view it in the app, delete all of it from Settings, or uninstall the app to remove it entirely.

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, and the CCPA in California — you may have additional rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection. 9. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what the app collects, the updated version will be published here with a new date at the top before the change reaches the app.
